iRest® Yoga Nidra
iRest® Yoga Nidra Meditation
Integrative Restoration, iRest for short, is an evidence-based, trauma-sensitive practice that combines the ancient practice of yoga nidra with modern-day psychology and neuroscience to support full-body wellness. Studies show iRest reduces anxiety, stress and chronic pain and improves sleep and overall well being.
The practice is integrative as it heals the various unresolved issues and traumas that are present in the body and mind, and restorative as it enables you to recognize your innate peace of mind that is always present amidst all changing circumstances of life.
Research shows iRest can be effective in reducing stress, anxiety, and chronic pain as well as improving sleep and overall well being. The benefits of iRest have proven so effective that the U.S. military uses it extensively..
This guided practice has helped special operations troops improve their resiliency, executives manage stress, cancer patients cope with pain, and trauma survivors experience safety and healing.
No special skills or experience are needed to do the practice. It can be done seated or lying down, with eyes open or eyes closed. There is not a wrong or a right way to do it. The best way to learn it is to do it.
iRest helps:

GETTING STARTED
At Health in Motion, certified iRest teacher Turi Hetherington offers private iRest sessions as well as iRest Co-Meditation Dyads to meet you where you are at and customize a practice based on your wants and needs.
iRest Intro Session:
- Offer an introduction to and personal exploration of the 10-step protocol of iRest
- Customize a practice to support your wellness goals
- Opportunity to work with chronic or acute pain, difficult emotions and/or core beliefs
iRest Co-Meditation Dyad:
- Support you to delve into self-inquiry and meet whatever is arising. This differs from a guided Yoga Nidra session in that you are invited to verbalize what you are noticing and experiencing including all the layers of your experience – sensations, images, thoughts and emotions. The aim is not to fix or change anything but to allow, meet and greet the experience so that insights may come forth.
- This format can be a powerful way to tap into your inner wisdom and develop a somatic understanding of any challenges that you might be facing in life. This may include anxiety, depression, pain, or perhaps to get more perspective on emotions or self-limiting beliefs. Often clients come away from these sessions feeling a sense of integration or clear next steps to take.
